What information does India Alliance collect about you?
We will process any personal data that was submitted in connection with an application towards decisions regarding Fellowship funding. The provisions below are relevant to applicants, sponsors, reviewers, administrators and various committee members.
How does India Alliance use this information?
Information that you supply, in connection with the provision of a service or a grant application and any funding arising from it, will be treated in confidence and in accordance with the principles of the Information Technology Act. Full details are also provided on the fellowship application forms.
You may be asked for personal information if you want to take advantage of specific services we offer, such as the online project grant application, In each case, we will use the personal information you provided only to deliver the services you have indicated you wish to take part in or to receive information that you have requested from us.
From time to time, we may conduct web surveys among current and previous India Alliance grant-holders to evaluate the impact of our policies and funding. At any stage of the survey or thereafter, you can ask that parts or complete record of the survey is destroyed or deleted.
The survey results will be used solely to evaluate Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance policy and research activities. None of the information contained in the results will be attributed to the person who submitted it without his/her explicit consent obtained in advance. The survey results may be anonymised for information/research purposes, they may also be made available to other organisations, some of which are our funding partners. We will indicate which organisations are associated with the survey.
All data collected for the purpose of surveys will be held and processed by India Alliance in a secure environment. All data will be anonymised and stored for a maximum of two years and then destroyed, unless the data is required for the purposes of tracking careers, in which case it will not be anonymised and will be held for a longer period of time.
Does India Alliance use 'cookies'?
When you visit or log into the India Alliance website your computer will automatically be issued a cookie. Cookies are text files that help our server to identify the computer being used, but the individual user is not identified. Cookies allow our server to remember you are the same person as you move through an application form or a survey.

How does India Alliance protect your personal information?
We use appropriate organisational and technical measures to ensure that your data is secure and protected from loss, misuse and unauthorised access or alteration. From time to time we introduce changes or improvements to our systems. Any test data that may have been used during this process is managed in a secure and confidential manner.
Does India Alliance share your information with anyone else?
The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance does not pass on information including email addresses to others unless we have stated that we will do so as part of our terms and conditions. You may be contacted periodically, by email, regarding updates on fellowship deadlines, activities and events. If you do not wish to be contacted, please inform us by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What are your rights?
You have the right to inform us at any time not to contact you, or to change your preferred methods of contact for marketing purposes.
